Orlando…Mini NPA-Resort time

We traded our time share for a three bedroom unit at the Grand Beach Resort We had flown in a few days earlier and now were ready to enjoy some time with our two oldest grandchildren. We spent a restful couple of days, enjoying the many activities at the resort. Our unit had a full-size kitchen, so Poppy cooked a breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns and toast

The resort had a list of activities we could do, one of them was tie die shirts. We learned really cool techniques on how to do your shirts at home. The shirt is first placed in a Soda Ash Solution. It is lightly rung out, then smoothed flat.

A fork is used to twist the shirt into a ball. The shirt is then secured with 3 rubber bands.

Deciding on the shirt colors was the hardest part. You squirt the desired color onto both sides of the shirt using the rubber bands as a guide. Whitney chose pink, purple, and blue, Jade chose blue green, and a splash of purple. Wyatt chose blue and red (or so he thought).

The shirts are placed in a plastic bag and sit in a cool place for 12 hours and are then washed in cold water. Our shirts actually set for about 30 hours due to our adventure to Universal Epic, but they still turned out amazing. As you can see, Wyatt’s color was actually orange.

We walked the short distance to Lake Bryan, which is a fresh water lake. There is no swimming as it has snakes and alligators. We rented a 4 person paddle boat for an hour.

Jade was in a kayak. He said that perhaps, he should have checked the weight limit as he was probably over and sat really low in the water.

As we paddled along the shore, we spotted a Great Egret among the Cyprus trees.

When we dropped our boat back off, we encountered a Blue Heron.

We played corn hole and chess

We went to the family BINGO, where the resort had very nice gifts. Whitney waited patiently for 67 to be called. Wyatt was extremely disapponted that he missed winning by one number

We checked out Pickle Ball equipment and had a very intense competition, that was lots of fun. Wyatt changed teams each game, trying to find a winning combination.

We then headed to the small beach area to sit in the hammocks. We had a few mishaps.

The late afternoon on the beach was very peaceful and nice

We attended the Movie Trivia where we heard a clip of a song and we had to guess the movie. It ended in a tie breaker…Wyatt won with the correct answer of Home Alone. Winning made up for the fact that we dropped our Lasagna for dinner on the floor…oh geez!!

We had an evening of pool time

There were 20 of us, travelling to Florida for the Thanksgiving cruise. Part of the group flew in later in the week…Kaylee went to an arts and crafts class and made a Thanksgiving wreath.

We played a round of miniature golf, with the course having an ocean theme. There was a hole in one celebration, disappointment for missed shots, a lost ball, and lots of laughs

Poppy won

We had a great time at the Grand Beach Resort
