Christmas

Christmas Cruise – Celebrating Christmas on a cruise ship

We have celebrated all sorts of holidays on cruise ships, but never Christmas or New Years Day, so we were very excited to experience it. The ship’s staff did a great job in spreading the holiday spirit.

On Christmas morning we enjoyed doing origami star boxes

We gave our room steward a Christmas card, a pin and a monetary gift. We didn’t get a picture of the Christmas cake before it was cut

The ship was in port on Christmas Day and before we left we ran down and grabbed a Christmas picture on the pier.

We loved the Christmas sing-a-long

And the Christmas program was fantastic!!

Christmas night we sailed through the Strait of Homuz, which is 24 miles wide. It is the closest we will ever get to either Oman at 6 miles or Iran at 18 miles. We were the only people on deck at 2am to “see” Iran. We are pretty sure there were Iranian patrol boats in the distance. We recorded a video for our adult son whose birthday is on the 26th of December…Happy Birthday from the Middle East!!

We had a few days at sea between Christmas and New Years where we played Bamboozled with a group from Canada. It is a tabletop escape room. We won!!

We ate and ate and ate, lots of good food

We took advantage of the adult spa area…

Enjoyed an afternoon movie with popcorn

We watched the ship’s map as we crossed the equator and Jim did the ceremonial stepping across. Unfortunately the map doesn’t do 00.00S so the closest we got was 00.004S.

We watched the funniest cake decorating contest between our cruise director Lizzie, the pastry chef, and a guest

We attended the evening shows in the theater and danced the night way in the lounge…

We tracked our progress as we headed down the Indian Ocean to Seychelles.
