Grand Targhee

We had hiked Table Rock the day before ( 11 miles round trip with a 4000 foot elevation gain) and thought it would be a good idea to climb a mountain with the help of a chair lift…lol. Grand Targhee is a ski resort near Alta, Wyoming, with access through Idaho. This is a great all year resort, but the winter powder is legendary to ski on.

We brought along our favorite college mascot…Willie P from William Penn University in Iowa.

We bought tickets for the Dream Catcher chair lift. With your ticket, you can ride three times…first trip up the mountain.

The view from the top was awesome. The Dream Catcher chairlift was installed in 1997.

The chair lift takes you to the summit of Fred’s Mountain, which sits at 9,862 feet. The Grand Tetons are in the background.

From the summit, we could see where we were yesterday. Everyone pointed at Table Rock, but Jade pointed down to the campground.

The view doesn’t get any better than this.

On our way back down

Mountain biking is a big summer activity at Grand Targhee. There are special carriers to get the bikes to the top of Fred’s Mountain

We grabbed a quick snack and then rode again.

On the way back to the campground, we saw a moose in a pond. We are pretty sure, it is the moose we saw the night before.

We had one last look at Table Rock and then headed home.

Whitney was the co-pilot and Wyatt enjoyed the upper window view

We celebrated our victorious hike with Hawaiian food in Rexburg, a great way to end our adventure.
